Linux Operations Support Specialist


The Linux Operations Support Specialist will be responsible for monitoring over 900 mission critical Linux and Windows servers for a series of customers. This role will be based in Barcelona and will be part of a worldwide, Operations Support team dedicated to manage our operating systems.


  • Work as part of a team that operates 900+ mission critical Linux and Windows servers
  • Manage applications to monitor service uptime and performance
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot incidents while attempting to resolve the majority on your own
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate business and technical experts and coordinate the efforts of all involved
  • Communicate the status of incidents and progress made in terms that business stakeholders will be able to understand
  • Perform all production software deploys and liaise with product development teams to ensure deployments are done properly and in a timely fashion
  • Maintain system documentation and troubleshooting procedures


  • 2-3 years working with in a position that primarily focussed on Linux operating systems (preferably RHEL/CentOS)
  • 2- 3 years working with Windows server operating systems
  • Exceptional customer service and trouble shooting skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
  • 1-2 years experience managing monitoring software (e.g. Sitescope, OpenNMS, Cacti, Gomez and Alertsite)
  • Experience supporting Apache/Tomcat/JBoss web application servers
  • Experience with scripting (Bash, Perl, Python)
  • Experience with any of these other systems or vendors is an asset:  Atlassian’s Jira & Wiki, Xangati, NetApp Storage Systems, Virtualization Software (VMware & XenCenter), Active Directory, Exchange, Drupal, WordPress, Databases (DB2, MYSQL, SQL, Postgres, Informix), Cisco Networking gear, Cisco Unified Communications (IP Phones)
  • Experience working in an ITIL environment is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to travel and do shift work
